When you are thinking of buying a sports car, don't get too concerned about the top speed and acceleration figures. These are important, but so is the way the car handles, brakes and steers. Also, give some thought to how you will use the car. For example, if you want a car to drive to work every day, but live where the winter is cold, don't buy a car like the Caterham Seven – unless you are a very hardy soul.

Cars of this type are best if you want a second car to drive when you feel like having some fun, or to go to a trackday. However, I used to drive a car as basic as this in England, and one of my friends used a Lotus Seven – also daily.
But these days not many people do that.
Equally, a car like a Mazda Miata or MX-5 – the name depends where you live – is a fun car for driving on the road, but is not really goods enough for a trackday car.
However, it does have creature comforts which you might find more your style.
